ABOUT THE ROLE
Oscar Six designs and runs the experiments the DoD and other mission partners use to assess next-generation technology. As a Senior Hardware Engineer you'll own the instrumentation that makes those experiments credible: the sensors that collect the data, the infrastructure that gets them mounted and powered in the field, and the integration that ties systems under test into our data collection. You're not building the next platform — you're building what lets us measure it accurately.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design and build data-collection instrumentation — small sensor packages, loggers and timing sources — for field experiments
Design mounts, enclosures, power and cabling to put instrumentation on air and ground platforms and test site
Derive power requirements and design to them — batteries, regulation and distribution — under tight SWaP limits
Integrate systems under test (UxS, sensors, radios) with our data-collection and network architecture
Plan and stand up field test infrastructure: power, networking, masts and range setup
Verify instrumentation is accurate, time-synchronized and reliable before it deploys; troubleshoot on site
Mentor junior engineers and set hardware standards and design-review practices
WHAT YOU BRING
B.S. in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering (or related)
[7+] years of hardware design experience, including leading designs end to end
Power systems: circuit analysis, power budgets, and battery/regulator design
3D CAD (SolidWorks or Fusion 360) for mounts and enclosures
Sensors, data acquisition and common interfaces (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet)
Building rugged, field-deployable hardware and using standard lab equipment
NICE TO HAVE
Test & evaluation or range instrumentation background
Schematic and PCB design (Altium, KiCad) — a capability you'd grow here
Time synchronization (GPS, PTP) for distributed data collection
RF and tactical / mesh radio integration
Experience with UAS/UGV platforms or DoD programs
ELIGIBILITY
U.S. citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
